April 6th Meeting

Our guest speaker for the April meeting is going to be Bill Hartman of FlyFishKansas Guide Service out of Emporia, KS.  He intends to present a program on the History of Float Tube Fishing and to talk a little about his guide service.

Bill’s Bio:

After working at Emporia State University for 40 years, Bill left for other adventures. He left there after being a director with responsibilities for the power plant, hvac, mail center, dormitory maintenance, electric shop, and at one time all the custodial staff.

The first adventure after retirement from ESU was working in nuclear reactors to perform repairs and refueling. Upon glowing in the dark to the extent that his wife could no longer sleep he left reactor work. This is after working in a management job that required a 76 hour work week.

He continued to take fly fisherman fishing around the Flint Hills at many of his private reservoirs that he has permission to fish. This was a great chance to meet folks and show them how to fly fish. To see his services go to www. flyfishkansas.com and take a look at the photos on the page.

He also enjoys his bi-yearly trips to Belize, the west coast of Ireland, or places like the Blackfeet Nation in Montana to fly fish.

During the dog days of winter he now also subs for the Emporia Middle and High schools which he enjoys a lot.
